Chandipur, 20km from Balasore has one such splendid sea-beach but with a unique distinction. Interestingly enough, the sea at Chandipur recedes almost 5 km away from the shore during the ebb and flow of tides. It is often referred to as ‘The Vanishing Sea’. The visitors here can take the pleasure of chasing the sea on feet or vehicle when it recedes back.

The cool breeze blowing over the saline sea caresses the casuarinas which sway rhythmically making a rustling noise, the sea plays hide and seek with the visitors and nature rejoices every moment. Adding to this beauty is the scenic spot at the mouth of river Budhabalanga where it joins the sea. One can sail up to this place in a fisherman’s boat to experience the magnificent beauty. Similipal National Park
Home to amazing variety of flora and fauna, Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj District is one of the Tiger Reserves in India. Located at a distance of 100 km from Chandipur and 80 km from Balasore, the place is well connected by all weather roads. Dense forests, mountainous tracts , thick foliage , rich bio-diversity including over 94 varieties of orchids, 231 species of birds and rare wildlife like tiger , elephant, barking deer, hornbill cobra, mouse deer etc. make the place a delightful destination for tourists.

Accommodation at Chahala, Barehipani, Nawana, Joranda, Gudgudia and Jashipur is provided by Forest Department. The Reservation Authority is The Field Director, Similiapal Tiger Reserve, Bhanjapur, Baripada ( Tel – 06792-252593, Fax – 256705). Besides, OTDC’s Aranyanivas at Lulung with 8 double rooms and 2 dormitories ( total 40 beds ) is also available for which The Tourist Office, Baripada (06792 ) 252710 is the Reservation Authority.

Deokund
Famous for a series of beautiful waterfalls and the shrine of Goddess Ambika , Deokund is situated at a distance of 140 km from Chandipur and 65 km from Baripada. It is an enchanting destination with thick green forests in the outer periphery of Similipal.

Balaramagadi
Only 2 km away from Chandipur, Balaramagadi is a scenic spot where river Bhudhabalanga meets the Bay of Bengal. The place echoes with the daily activities of fishermen and traders who trade over the pricey catch of fish. The visitors apart from enjoying the magnificent beauty of scenery take the pleasure of the trading process.

Remuna
A temple dedicated to Lord Khirachora Gopinath ( literally meaning Krishna who steals milk ) is the prime attraction of Remuna. Located 9 km from Balasore, it is one of the important Vaishanaba centres of the country, visited by shree Chaitanya.

Sajanagarh
The temple of Bhudara Chandi dating back to 14th Century makes Sajanagarh in Balasore district a frequently visited religious centre.

Nilagiri
For people interested in trekking, Nilagiri provides an ideal base at the Kuldiha Santuary. Nilagiri is also known for the Jagannath Temple . In the past, Nilgiri served as the headquarters of a princely state of the same name. Set against a backdrop of green mountains a natural beauty, it is a charming place worth seeing.

Panchalingeshwar
At a distance of 30 Km from Balasore, Pachalingeshwar on a hillock of has derived it’s name from the five lingams. This abode of Lord Shiva has a perennial spring adding to it’s beauty. The place attracts visitors throughout the year. The Panthashala here provides suitable accommodation to the visitors interested to stay in the midst of the nature.

Air : Nearest Airport is Bhubaneswar (230 Km) and Kolkata ( 314 Km) . Indiaa Airlines has flights from Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai. Other Airline like Jetlite, Indigo, Kingfisher have flights from different metropolis of the country to Bhubaneswar.

Rail : Nearest rail head is Balasore (20 Km) on the South Eastern Railway served by a number of trains from Howrah, New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Puri, Tirupati, Bhubaneshwar etc.

Road : Chandipur is well connected by an excellent all -weather road, 20 Km from Balasore on N.H No 5, 230 Km from Bhubaneswar and 314 Km from Kolkata. Regular bus services are available. Taxis and Auto- Rickshaws are available from Balasore.
